Fragile States, Fragile Lives Child Marriage Amid Disaster and Conflict
Abstract
This Working Paper was made possible thanks to generous support from the
Ford Foundation, and is part of the Women and Foreign Policy program. This paper explores the relationship between child marriage prevalence rates and fragile states. Existing data and an abundance of qualitative evidence point to a relationship: Countries with high rates of child marriage tend to be among the world’s most fragile and least stable.
