Vienna declaration and programme of action
Abstract
This document presents the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action adopted at the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna. At that conference, a coordinated mobilization of women's organizations and Governments reaffirmed that violence against women was a violation of human rights and the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action called for the designation Special Rapporteur on violence against women. The Vienna Conference also contributed to the adoption of the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women
